SNOQUALMIE RIDGE
Snoqualmie Ridge nestles in a mountainous area located 30 minutes from the ski slopes of the Cascade Range and 30 miles east of Seattle. This planned community includes a neighborhood center, a business park, a community park, residential homes, and a PGA-style tournament/player golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The primary goals for the outdoor lighting system were to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the community during the day, provide functionality in the evening and blend in with the surrounding architecture and landscaping. Several lighting variations were selected to meet these goals.
The lighting theme chosen for the residential neighborhoods was the Granville Acorn mounted on a 12-foot green fluted pole with a decorative Washington base. The Granville's prismatic glass refractor helps direct light beams to the desired pattern, putting light onto the roadway and minimizing light trespass toward homes. The Granville does not discolor over time, and its internal shield restricts up lighting into the beautiful night sky.
The pedestrian trail that winds through the community uses K308 Moderne, yoke-mounted post-top luminaires on concrete octagonal poles. The community parking area is illuminated with 200-watt high-pressure sodium, K204 black Viscount luminaires with decorative scroll arms on etched, vintage brown concrete poles.
The Granville luminaire mounted on a 15-foot black fluted pole on a Washington base was used to achieve higher lighting levels for the business park retail area. The intersection lighting for the business park is illuminated with 250-watt high-pressure sodium, green cobraheads installed on Aladdin arms on 30-foot dark green steel slip-based poles. Also in the business area are gray shoeboxes mounted at 25 feet on octagonal gray concrete poles with 150-watt high-pressure sodium lamps.
The developer and the residents of Snoqualmie Ridge have all benefited from the lighting system offered by INTOLIGHT. The developer was able to get the decorative luminaires they needed to create an upscale community. In return, residents feel the decorative lighting system has helped create a safe, inviting neighborhood. Henry Weaks, resident of Snoqualmie Ridge, says, "We love the outdoor lighting in our new development. It is very classy and provides a warm and safe nighttime environment. In the evening, the atmosphere created by the lighting is almost magical as the fixtures sparkle. We love living on the Ridge and lighting has a lot to do with it."
